Instructor Development course

The IDC is the cornerstone of the Instructional Development process. The goal of the program is to prepare you to function as an effective Instructor by thoroughly familiarizing you with the system and its entire diver training programs. During the course, you’ll apply your dive knowledge and skills while learning to use the System of diver education in the classroom and in the water.
About The Course
The IDC is divided into two sections, the AI course and the OWSI program. Each component can be scheduled as a stand-alone course, and complete the entire IDC at one time. During the IDC you learn to manage and adapt the System of diver education to individual diver needs. As an Open Water Scuba Instructor, you can conduct a range of Diver courses, from Discover Scuba Diving experiences to Divemaster. The IDC curriculum is focused on development. You will be introduced to the complete System and learn how to teach all of the core Courses through Divemaster. You will learn teaching techniques in confined water, open water, and in the classroom. You will develop your confined water and rescue skills to instructor level, and test your stamina by completing an 800 yard mask, fin, and snorkel swim (the exercise is not timed). Our focus is designed to prepare you to teach successfully, not just pass the IE.
What do I need to start?
The IE is an examination in which the candidate is evaluated over two days in the following areas:
